Hi I’m Peter! I am a 5½ year old female Quaker Parrot. My former owners thought I was a boy until I laid an egg! I was too stressed with children in my home and I began plucking a lot. I’m much calmer now with my foster mom and her two birds.
I like a lot of attention and prefer to be on your shoulder hanging out as much as possible! Just like most Quakers, I vocalize a lot and like to be able to see you. My previous owner taught me lots of words and phrases such as “Good job Peter, good job!”, “Nice to meet you Peter, nice to meet you!”, “Say thank you Peter!”, “Here, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty!” and many more. I even lift my wings for you to tickle me if you say “Tickle, tickle, tickle!”. I step up from my cage well most of the time but am still working on it. Once I get to know you I like head scratches too. I love to shred toys and am learning what these things called “foot toys” are for.
I’m on a healthy pellet diet but love all kinds of fruit and veggies. My absolute favorite treats are pistachios (without the salt of course) and if I see that bag I will go into a happy dance!
I would do best in a home without children and, like many Quakers, I usually bond with one person the most. I do well with men and women.
